Benay Dara-Abrams, PhD. CEO and Chief Gerontechnology Officer
I am a Gerontechnologist, designing and developing collaborative gerontechnology systems to support healthy aging. Combining my 30 years of high-tech management and product development experience with my background in gerontology, psychology, and family systems, I co-founded Kinnexxus to develop products that help older adults maintain their independence and quality of life by engaging and connecting them with their friends and families, professional care providers, and community organizations. As the Kinnexxus CEO and Chief Gerontechnology Officer, I follow a user-centered systems approach, hiding the complexity of the technology in order to support meaningful interaction and collaboration that enriches the lives of both older adults and their caregivers.

Drew Dara-Abrams, PhD. Candidate. Chief Technology Officer
I am a Cognitive and Computer Scientist, focusing on understanding how people relate to the built environment (which includes technology) and building user-friendly software to meet their needs. Designing software for different user populations, it’s very important to achieve the right person-environment fit – not so complicated that it frustrates the user but providing a rich user experience that offers stimulation and fully engages the person in the experience. That’s why I designed the Kinnexxus platform with three different user experiences for older adults, family caregivers, and professional care providers.

Alec Dara-Abrams, M.S. Chief Software Architect
I am a Computer Scientist, with 30 years of experience in research and development in distributed measurement systems, smart sensor systems, and digital home entertainment networks at Hewlett-Packard Research Laboratories, Sony Electronics Research Laboratory, and Kinnexxus. As Chief Software Architect at Kinnexxus, I’m the technical lead on the development of the Sensor-Enabled Elder Social Support Platform and the Online Psychosocial Assessment Instruments project, funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging. To track and improve the health and well-being of older adults, I’ve been designing and developing user-friendly interfaces to home health devices along with online psychosocial assessment instruments that older adults can use with the touch of a finger.
