Rhinoplasty, which is the reshaping of the nose, is a very common plastic surgery procedure. It is done for many reasons. Even though the most common reason for getting rhinoplasty is for cosmetic reasons, many patients require it for reasons of a non-cosmetic nature. One very common non-cosmetic reason people require a non-cosmetic rhinoplasty procedure is a difficulty breathing caused by a deviated septum. A deviated septum is a common side-effect of a broken nose and rhinoplasty is often used to correct this. Even if there is not something medically wrong with your nose, you may decide rhinoplasty is for you. You might want to improve the size or shape of your nose and make it “fit your face” significantly better. Some commonplace reasons patients choose to get the surgery are; wide or upturned nostrils, wide bridge, visible humps, wide tip, undesirable shape of tip, and general unevenness. Recovery time will be required after a rhinoplasty surgery. Recovery times will vary substantially with this procedure as the actual work completed is different from patient to patient. That being said, the recovery can be as short as a single week. The new shape, size and contours of the nose will be completely visible over the days and weeks after the surgery. The procedure can also be completed as a companion to others such as a facelift.
