Also called “fat grafting” or “fat injections” this surgery is increasing in popularity. As an alternative to augmentation or fillers, fat can very often be used. In cases when a traditional filler would be utilized to correct creases, fat could be transferred instead. Basically, fat is removed (using liposuction) from an area of the body where you have unwanted fat. It is then, transferred to and injected into the area needing a filler. This allows for both a decrease in excess fat and the filling of wrinkles and creases. By using fat vs a traditional filler, you can achieve the desired result without the need for ongoing maintenance treatments that are required with filler products. Procedures like breast augmentation and buttock augmentation can also be achieved using this method. Essentially, you can “transfer” fat from an undesirable area to the area you want to augment. Imagine transferring your unwanted belly fat to your breasts instead …it can be reality! The surgery itself takes a bit longer to perform but the outcome is permanent and natural.
