Fat transfer surgery has grown immensely in popularity in recent years. You might have heard of this procedure by its other popular names, fat grafting or fat injections. As an alternative to augmentation or fillers, fat can very often be utilized. In cases where a traditional filler would be utilized to correct wrinkles, fat could be transferred instead. Basically, fat is removed (using liposuction) from an area of the body where you have extra fat. It’s then, transferred to and injected into the area needing a filler. This allows for both a decrease in excess fat and the filling of wrinkles and creases. The benefits of this are not merely the fact that you removed unwanted fat …but, because fat was utilized instead of traditional fillers, there are no ongoing maintenance treatments. Augmenting body parts, traditionally completed using implants, can also be achieved using fat transfer. Essentially, unwanted fat (often from the abdomen or leg areas) is removed and transferred to a more desirable area of the body. This is often done in breast or buttock augmentation. The procedure itself takes a bit longer to complete but the outcome is permanent and natural.
